Day 21

November 21st, 2010: These are our feet on the way to church this morning. Walking- we have gotten so used to walking. Something that I would have complained about in America. I would drive around so I could get a close parking spot to the store, drive to a store just minutes from my house and complain when my parents wanted me to take the dogs on a walk. I really think I am going to miss walking when I get back to the States- I may look for places I can walk to even. It is such a daily part of my life here and I really do like it. You see so much more of life than when you are in a car and just drive by something. I get to see the people on the street, walk by a park filled with families and their children and see vendors selling fruits and vegetables on the side of the street. I also get to walk by dozens of stores, houses, apartments and faces- I get to use this time as I walk to pray for the people that work and shop in those stores, who live in those houses and apartments and who look back at me as I walk by them. There is such power in that- and because of that, and many other reasons, I am thankful for walking.

Thank of the day: I am thankful for the ability to walk. I have been blessed with full physical health- which is something I take for granted too much. As I walked to church this morning I was reminded of the blessing of being able to walk and get around this fabulous city!
