This week I had to make a trip to Nashville, Tennessee to attend a three day training for my new job. Starting, well now I guess, I am the Site Director for Fuge camps in Glorieta, New Mexico. Before this training I new that this new job was big- but I guess I didn't realize just how big it is. Let's just say leaving training on Saturday night, after two 14 hour days, my head was spinning with all kinds of helpful, necessary but none the less overwhelming information. My job is basically this- I get to coordinate all the ministry sties for all of the Glorieta M-Fuge camp students to work at this summer. There is a lot more to it than that, but we can stick with that definition for now. Basically, from now until May I will be doing all the ground work to find local charities, churches, children's facilities, nursing homes, parks, food banks, etc. that our students can serve at this summer. I am so excited to get to dive into this crazy task! It is hard to believe that this is even my job. I remember last year thinking that I would never get hired to be an M-Fuge track leader, as much as I desperately wanted it, and now I am a director at the same camp. God is so faithful.
Some of the things I am looking forward to the most about being Site Director. 1) Getting to pour into a city from far away and then coming to live there this summer and watching all the puzzle pieces come together. 2) Working with and seeing the kids at Valle Vista Boys and Girls club this summer- more than one of them hold a special place in my heart. Well, let's face it I am stoked to visit all of my ministry sites again! 3) Helping to train and equip my track leaders to serve in the city of Santa Fe, New Mexico. Hoping they fall in love with it just as much as I have. 4) Watching the Lord choose to use His people to reach the lost in Santa Fe. 5) Seeing students fall in love with loving people- loving the unloved.
Now, I am home. After training I got to stay in Nashville for a few more days and see some amazing friends. Made me realize how much I have missed them since camp.
I have a box full of supplies. A jump drive full of grids, spreadsheets, rules and regulations. I have 2 binders full of pages and pages of info on how to do this new job. A cell phone, business cards, gps and credit card. Plans to make another business trip to New Mexico in a couple months. Ready. Set. Go.
