Goodbye Maryville

One full day left in our first apartment. The last two weeks have utterly f.l.o.w.n. by.

There is something so bittersweet about packing up the very first place you lived as a married couple. I am overly excited (even more so now that my packing is 98% complete) about living in our very first house. There are so many blessings that come with living in a house that an apartment simply can't compete with. For instance, I can't wait to create a great back yard! I am so excited to have extra space in my home to work on projects. And, I am thankful to finally have my washer and dryer next to each other rather than across the apartment from one another. Something about living in a house feels more permanent and more cozy than an apartment.

However, I am very emotional about the idea of leaving Maryville. This was the first. There are so many first memories here. I will fondly remember some of these things as we prepare to leave....

The first time we drove up to 508 West Davison Square & entered into our first home as husband & wife
Our first walk around our neighborhood that summer evening where Zach showed me my first lightning bug
Adopting Watson at the Maryville animal shelter
Fishing at the Nodaway county lake for and Zach teaching me how to fish
Taking time to explore the town square, even though it only took about 20 minutes
Making some of our first big purchases for our new home together- a washer and dryer, a couch and TV
Finding my job at St. Francis and making great friends and memories there
Changing my residency from Nevada for the first time ever
The time Zach and I were able to spend together our first summer here making this home our own
Learning to adapt and even enjoy small town life
Being next to Zach as he finished up his time at NWMSU and watching him graduate
And all the many memories in between.....

But, here is to a new adventure and to making memories in our first house! So thankful for the time the Lord has given us to be a part of Maryville. It will always hold a special place in my heart as it was where I started as Mrs. Haffecke. Can't wait to see all that Kansas City has in store for us.

40 hours and counting....
