"Lent: time in which we anticipate the victory of the Light and life of Christ over the darkness of sin and death."
I have not always participated in lent, the season leading up to Easter in which a believer usually gives up something to focus on the events leading up to the Resurrection of Christ. However, this year I have felt convicted to sacrifice something from my life to focus on the gift of salvation that has been given to me through the death and resurrection of my Savior. While this should be something to focus on daily it often falls to the wayside in the busyness of life. In giving up, sacrificing, going without something in my life I aim to use that time or resource to focus on the Lord. This year seems to be shaping up to be a very pivotal year in the Haffecke household. There are lots of things that will be taking place and lots of decisions that we as a family need to make this year that will ultimately help shape our future. We do not want to walk into those lightly.
Lord, as I enter this season of lent may you focus my heart on the Cross. May you bring to mind the sacrifice that you made for me and the inheritance that you have so wonderfully given to me out of your love each day as I sacrifice for you. No earthly sacrifice can compare to the sacrifice of Calvary, but Lord I ask that you shape me to be more like you in this season of my life. Tune my heart to Your will for our lives Lord and make me more like You.
