Day 2

Day 2: The Lord, my Sustainer

sustain: verb  (dictionary.com)
1.
to support, hold, or bear up from below; bear the weight of, as a structure.
2.
to bear (a burden, charge, etc.).
3.
to undergo, experience, or suffer (injury, loss, etc.); endure without giving way or yielding.
4.
to keep (a person, the mind, the spirits, etc.) from giving way, as under trial or affliction.

In times of trouble-God sustains us....

"Surely God is my help; the Lord is the one who sustains me."- Psalm 54:14

Because we are unable to do it ourselves- God hold us up without giving way...

"The Son is the radiance of God's glory and the exact representation of his being sustaining all things by his powerful word..." Hebrews 1:3a

Through His design He keeps the world from buckling despite trails and afflictions....

"For by him all things were created; things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all these things were created by him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together."  Colossians 1:16-17

Because he loves us and created us He will sustain us...

"I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you." Isaiah 46:4b

Whether we approach this holiday season bogged down by problems that attempt to steal our joy or even just overcome with the mundane day to day tasks of life:

let us shout to the Lord with gladness
that he sustains us
in every way, every day.
