to keep (a person, the mind, the spirits, etc.) from giving way, as under trial or affliction.
In times of trouble-God sustains us....
"Surely God is my help; the Lord is the one who sustains me."- Psalm 54:14
Because we are unable to do it ourselves- God hold us up without giving way...
"The Son is the radiance of God's glory and the exact representation of his being sustaining all things by his powerful word..." Hebrews 1:3a
Through His design He keeps the world from buckling despite trails and afflictions....
"For by him all things were created; things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all these things were created by him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together." Colossians 1:16-17
Because he loves us and created us He will sustain us...

Whether we approach this holiday season bogged down by problems that attempt to steal our joy or even just overcome with the mundane day to day tasks of life:
let us shout to the Lord with gladness
that he sustains us
in every way, every day.
