Day 6

The Word indicates that God comforts His people. The Holy Spirit is identified in Scripture as the Comforter. When my heart grows weary and my soul is hurting I can run to a God who can comfort me in my affliction.

Isaiah 49:13 "Shout for joy, O heavens; rejoice, o earth; burst into song, O mountains! For the Lord comforts his people and will have compassion on his afflicted ones." -We can rejoice in the fact that the Lord is able to comfort us and is aware of our afflictions! He does not overlook our hurts.

John 14:26 "But the Counselor (comforter), the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you." In times of trial we can rely on the Holy Spirit to act as our comforter, filling our hearts with the Truth of Christ.

2 Corinthians 1:3-4 "Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our trouble, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God." There are times in which God will use our sufferings as a tool in which to provide encouragement and comfort to those around us pointing them to the ultimate giver of Comfort- Jesus.
