As I continue throughout this series every characteristic of who God is has example after example in the Word of that characteristic being displayed by our God. God as our deliverer being no exception. When I think of God's deliverance I am reminded of the people of Israel. Put into slavery, feeling as if they had been abandoned by God, persecuted by a people far greater than they. In the midst of this suffering God revealed His plan-a way out through his servant Moses. A picture of redemption and victorious salvation provided by God.
In the midst of this story unfolding throughout the book of Exodus we get to the part of the story where the Israelites are being actively pursued by their adversaries. They have left their bondage only to reach the Red Sea with Pharaoh and his army bearing down on them, threatening to overtake them at any moment. Seemingly no escape. And...
"They were terrified and cried out to the Lord" (Exodus 14:10b)
"Moses answered the people, "Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again. The Lord will fight for you, you need only to be still." (Exodus 14:13-14)
And for His glory, the Lord delivered the people out of the hand of Pharaoh. The Red Sea parted and the Israelites walked across dry ground while their adversaries were demolished by the same Sea.
God is great, and worthy of all praise. When our lives align with His plan He will deliver us from the things that stand in the way of accomplishing His purpose for our lives.
Walk in that truth today- that we serve a God that is capable of the seemingly impossible. That is bigger than your greatest adversary and that commands the earth to obey.
Who loves you enough to deliver you.
